Why speak with us?
One of the most important conversations in the caring space is about lived experience.
After all, how can your carer or support team truly understand your needs, challenges, and hopes — if they haven’t walked a mile in your shoes?
This question is at the heart of Fraser Care, and one of the main reasons Katy Fraser created the organisation.
Just a few years ago, Katy’s life looked very different. After a successful career in corporate and hospitality, she started her own family business — hands-on, busy, and rewarding. She loved working with her hands, especially fixing and renovating things around the home.
During a renovation, Katy fell from a two-storey residence through a pergola roof. She sustained severe spinal, skeletal, and brain injuries. Her doctors believe that two burst eardrums — the result of the impact — may have saved her life by reducing the pressure on her brain before help arrived.
A new beginning
Katy’s recovery is her own story to tell (and she will, if you ask her!) — but it included learning how to navigate daily life again in her 40s. Meanwhile, her family and business were left in shock, trying to function in an uncertain future.
She didn’t have a clear roadmap or the ideal support system, but she found her way forward, one step at a time. And through it all, she promised that if she ever got through the other side, she would create something better for others.
That’s how Fraser Care was born — through real experience, deep compassion, and a desire to change the care system from the inside out
“Walking this path wasn’t easy — but I learnt that it’s okay to ask for help. If I can provide that now for others, then I’m in the right place.”
— Katy Fraser
We see what others often don’t.

it's a commitment.
